C1: Voluntary Research Services

This service was inspired by voluntary involvement to help and improve unique service situations. Lean Six Sigma methodology was applied, created new learning of service situations and led to inspiring outcome.

1) DMAIC:-WHO CARES? is a nationwide initiative where churches are working together to listen to the needs of local people and offer compassion and hope. Everybody hurts but not everybody has hope. A Lean Six Sigma project was undertaken to help a church with DMAIC steps to implementation.

2) Voice of Customer (VOC): NHS Mental health support services did not fully cater for community patients and carers at home during out-of-hours in Mid-North Hants Basingstoke and surrounding areas. A qualitative survey of community patients and carers was carried out. The analysis identified what the voice of community was saying. This helped to list priority of needs that was used as a guide for staff working at the new out-of-hours centre for community mental health patients and carers.

What next? To explore and apply the power of Lean Six Sigma to help and improve for the better in seemingly difficult situations.
