I worked for Motorola, Land Mobile Products Sector starting in the mid-80s. One of the rapid technology changes was the transition from plug-in RF systems modules which were manually tuned, to surface mount technology using custom ICs, where tuning was performed in custom test & measurement systems. The use of Six-Sigma strategies was needed to reduce the amount of scrap and waste.
